A Comanchero bikie accused of taking part in a failed alleged hit job on the gang’s former Canberra chapter president was filmed at a shooting range the day before the attack.
Axel Sidaros, 25, is accused of being part of a group who stormed the home of Canberra’s then-top Comanchero, Peter Zdravkovic, shooting up the property and setting fire to his cars.
Sidaros has pleaded not guilty, and denies being one of the masked men filmed entering the property.
An ACT Supreme Court jury was on Friday shown footage of Sidaros at a local firing range the day before the attack on Zdravkovic.
Sidaros is shown firing an Adler shotgun, one of three firearms police would later seize from a gun safe at his house.
The court heard Sidaros was a licensed gun owner.
In an audio recording of conversations between Sidaros and police during a search of his house, also played to the jury, Sidaros said police investigating him was “a bit of a joke, honestly”.
Sidaros had three firearms in his gun safe, a Webley & Scott 12-gauge, a Marlin XT-22 and an Adler A110 12-gauge.
Police also found Comanchero paraphernalia at his house.
“I’m an associate with the Comos, obviously,” Sidaros said.
Data from Sidaros’s phone show he went to a local gun shop in the hours before the shooting, having been at the range the day before.
Sidaros told investigators: “I think it’s a bit stupid youse are investigating me”.
Sidaros said he first heard about the shooting at Mr Zdravkovic’s house from the ACT Police Facebook page.
“The whole of Canberra knows about that incident,” Sidaros told investigators.
The prosecution case is that the alleged attempted hit was motivated by an internal feud in the Comanchero club, which culminated in Mr Zdravkovic distributing photos of himself burning his club colours, a move considered a serious affront in outlaw bikie gang circles.
The trial continues.
