ACT Police have released a composite image of scar-faced, grey-bearded, caucasian man after children were approached by strangers in two separate incidents in Canberra’s south.

The first incident occurred about 5.45pm on Thursday when a man stopped his vehicle next to a child on Bromby St in Isaacs.

The man got out of the vehicle and spoke to the child who did not respond and ran away.

Police have released a face-fit image of the alleged offender who is described as caucasian, about 170cm tall and about 50-years-old with a grey-coloured beard.

He had dark eyebrows and a scar over one eye and was wearing a dark beanie, gloves and a dark coloured T-shirt with a skull on it.

ACT Policing has released this face-fit image as they appeal for witnesses.

ACT Policing is also calling for witnesses following a separate incident in Monash, also on Thursday.

Two men in a vehicle approached a child who was walking along Sturdee Cres about 3.40pm.

The child ran away down a nearby laneway.

While neither child was injured, police take these approaches seriously and are investigating both incidents.

Anyone who may have any information, including CCTV or dashcam footage from the area, that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.

An ACT Policing face-fit is a graphical representation of a face, constructed by an artist working with a witness.

A mixture of technology and artistry creates the image, usually from individual facial features which are then put together to come up with a final composite image.

KEEP SAFE

Police encourage parents, guardians and teachers to make sure children understand how to keep themselves safe, particularly when walking to and from school, and to teach children about stranger safety. Information on ways to help children to stay safe is available on the Constable Kenny Koala website.

If you become aware of an incident, or notice anyone acting suspiciously around a school or child, contact police immediately on 131 444 or in the case of an emergency call triple-0. The quicker police can respond and attend to an incident of this nature, the quicker they can target the area and surrounds.
