A fraudster who recently bolted out of Goulburn Correctional Centre has pleaded guilty to the offence.

Wollongong local Zac Black, 30, did not appear via audiovisual link at Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday, where he was previously charged for escaping lawful custody.

His lawyer passed on his plea and also mentioned that he is currently in custody at Parklea Correctional Centre.

Court documents tendered to the court state Black was originally sentenced in May to eight months in jail for larceny and dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception.

He was to be released on parole on September 26 until unsuccessfully escaping minimal security at Goulburn Correctional Centre.

Documents state on June 24 he walked to a medical clinic and while being walked back to minimum security by his escorting officer, he made a run for it.

According to the facts, he jumped over a minimal security barbed wire fence and ran from Maud St onto Wilmot Street.

As previously reported in a Correctives Services NSW statement, his escape was short-lived, with two officers catching up with him using an RTV utility vehicle around 200 metres from the centre.

Documents state he was caught and handcuffed at the intersection of Wilmot and Wayo Street, which police were then called to.

According to the facts, Black told police he was trying to catch a train from Goulburn back home to Warrawong in Wollongong.

By attempting to escape a correctional centre, he is now prevented from being held in minimum security facilities in the future.

Black’s lawyer asked for the matter to be adjourned due to troubles with contacting him while in custody.

He will be sentenced on July 27.
