Police are appealing for information after a local woman died while cycling around New Berrima.

Police are appealing for information after a local woman died while cycling around New Berrima on Friday.

Emergency services were called to Mereworth Rd in New Berrima following reports a cyclist had been found unresponsive on the side of the road.

Two teams of paramedics arrived on site but were unable to revive the 70-year-old woman, who died at the scene.

NSW Police confirmed the woman was a New Berrima resident.

The Crash Investigation Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether a collision was involved.

Police are appealing to members of the public to come forward with any information or dashcam footage that might assist the investigation.
