Neil William Hollis charged with sexually assaulting a child in Southern Highlands

A Southern Highlands man is set to stand trial over allegations he sexually assaulted a young girl several times over a number of years.

A Southern Highlands man has been charged with eight counts of sexually assaulting a child over several years.

Neil William Hollis, 49, appeared in Moss Vale Local Court on Wednesday after being charged with five counts of indecently assaulting a person under 16 years old, two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a minor between 10 and 14 years old, and intentionally sexually touching a minor.

Police allege the New Berrima resident sexually assaulted a child over a three-year period from 2015 to 2018 and sexually touched a second child in 2019.

Neil William Hollis is charged with eight counts of sexually assaulting a child.

According to police allegations, Mr Hollis indecently assaulted the first victim by forcing her to place her hand on his exposed genitals. Police allege the victim was eight and 10-years-old when Mr Hollis indecently assaulted her again in a similar manner.

Police allege Mr Hollis took advantage of the victim when he took her to a room and gave her a mobile phone to play with while he undressed her. According to police allegations, he used his mouth and fingers to sexually assault the victim.

In 2019, police allege Mr Hollis intentionally sexually touched a second victim, aged 10, while she was asleep. According to police allegations, the victim woke up to Mr Hollis touching her genitals underneath her underwear.

Neil William Hollis appeared in Moss Vale Local Court on October 6.

Mr Hollis has pleaded not guilty to the eight charges against him and the court heard the matter will proceed to Goulburn District Court for trial. A date will be set for a trial in a phone conference on November 10.

The court heard Mr Hollis has no prior criminal history. He is currently on bail with conditions not to be alone with anyone younger than 16 years old.
