Three women are on the road to recovery after a horrific head-on crash at Burradoo left two women in an induced coma and another in serious condition.

At noon on October 27, emergency services were called to Moss Vale Road in Burradoo after a serious two-car crash left three women seriously injured. Four NSW Ambulance crews worked for an hour to free a woman who was trapped by compression after the high speed collision.

The woman, who is in her 80s, was treated for chest, facial and pelvic injuries at the scene before she was put into an induced coma. She was then flown to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.

One of the drivers was a 72-year-old woman who sustained arm and leg injuries in the crash. She was also put into an induced coma and flown to St George Hospital in a serious condition.

A woman in her 50s was taken by road to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition with abrasions to her chest and abdomen.

NSW Ambulance paramedics were at the site, near the Briars Country Lodge, for hours and used both a Toll Ambulance chopper and a Careflight helicopter to ensure treatment for the two women in a coma. Moss Vale Road was closed for nearly eight hours to allow for a crash investigation to take place.

A witness who was driving just behind the incident described the crash as “an all over terrible thing too (sic) watch”.

However, The Bowral News has confirmed all three women are now in a stable condition.

A spokeswoman from St George Hospital confirmed the 72-year-old driver of one of the cars is still in a stable condition in hospital. She reportedly underwent surgery for her injuries. She had previously been in a critical but stable condition.

According to a spokeswoman for Liverpool hospital, the woman in her 80s is now in a stable condition, a vast improvement on her previous status in critical condition.

The Liverpool hospital spokeswoman said the woman in her 50s has been discharged from the hospital after previously being in a critical but stable condition. A family member told The Bowral News the woman has a suspected fractured pelvis and a drainage tube in her lung.

Despite her previous critical but stable condition, the family member confirmed the woman left Liverpool hospital on Tuesday and is now recovering at home.
