Michael Ibrahim, 43, appeared in Goulburn Local Court via audiovisual link after pleading not guilty to using a carriage service to menace his sister and attempting to intimidate her with the intent of causing her fear of physical harm.

According to court documents, police allege Ibrahim threatened to kill his sister Armani Haddad (also known as Armani Stelio) during a phone call at Goulburn Jail on the morning of October 25, 2020.

Ibrahim was apprehended at Goulburn Jail on the afternoon of October 29 by Strike Force Raptor, a police operation targeting serious criminal activity such as bikie gangs.

On Wednesday, Ibrahim appeared in Goulburn Local Court in his prison greens with a thick grey beard, thinning hair, and thinner patience with the troublesome technology that prolonged his matter.

The court heard there were delays in getting documents signed by Ibrahim, who remained on screen for more than 30 minutes as the issues were ironed out.

Ibrahim’s lawyer Abbas Soukie said the matter was finally ready to proceed to trial after the defence received the last material in the brief.

Magistrate Geraldine Beattie confirmed both charges will proceed to trial in Goulburn District Court next year, after a telephone conference on December 8 to determine a date.

Ibrahim will remain in custody at Goulburn Jail, where he is notoriously serving a maximum thirty year prison sentence for an attempt to import nearly two tonnes of drugs and millions of cigarettes into Australia.

Ibrahim is listed to reappear in Goulburn Local Court on February 16 for the apprehended domestic violence order in place to protect Ms Haddad.

The court heard the order, which includes a prohibition on contacting the alleged victim, will remain in place until the next court date.
