Police allege three young friends from western Sydney drove down to Spring Farm in the middle of the night to break into a home and steal a white Mercedes Benz.

Joel Lawlis, 21, Timothy Jordan Grainger, 22, and Taylor Ann Thompson, 22, are all charged with aggravated break and enter with people in the house and stealing a motor vehicle.

Grainger, from Blacktown, has pleaded guilty to the offences, while Mr Lawlis, from Doonside, and Ms Thompson, from Ropes Crossing, are yet to enter a plea. Ms Thompson told police she only agreed to go for a drive.

Police allege Ms Thompson drove the friends to Spring Farm from Blacktown in a purple Mitsubishi Lancer at around 3am on March 10. The trio parked outside the house on Starke St, put up their hoods and slid on gloves, according to the police facts.

According to the police, the accused walked up the driveway into the backyard and then used tools like screwdrivers to force the locked door open. They allegedly grabbed the keys for the white Mercedes Benz c200 Kompressor and took a Gucci bag from inside the car, according to the police facts.

The police arrived after getting reports of people with torches, and Ms Thompson allegedly drove away with the headlights off. Police allege she drove for a few hundred metres before pulling over when police activated their lights.

Inside the car, police allegedly found the three friends, a Gucci bag, three pairs of gloves, a torch, and screwdrivers. Police allege the three friends formed a “joint criminal enterprise” to steal the valuable car.

In the court documents, Lawlis expressed “shame and embarrassment” for his actions and revealed he had been using drugs at the time of the alleged offences. He told Community Corrections he had committed the alleged offences to fund his drug habit but recognised “the hurt I have caused.”

“Sorry for taking away your right to feel safe in your own home,” he wrote in a letter to the victims.

Mr Lawlis and Ms Thompson will both appear in Picton Court on October 12. Grainger’s charges have been transferred to the Parramatta Drug Court, where he will appear on September 24.
