Goulburn woman charged with producing, disseminating child abuse material

A Goulburn woman remains behind bars on remand after she was charged with producing and disseminating child abuse material.

A Goulburn woman will remain behind bars on remand after she was charged with creating and disseminating child sex abuse material and concealing a man’s sexual assualt of a child under 10-years-old.

Police allege the 36-year-old woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, created child abuse material between January 2017 and April 2018 in Goulburn with at least three children known to her. According to police, the woman allegedly made the child abuse material public during that time.

The Goulburn woman is also charged with failing to inform police she had knowledge of a man committing an indecent assault in Goulburn between 2017 and 2018.

On Wednesday, Goulburn Local Court heard the woman was charged with a fresh offence of failing to inform police that she knew the same man had sexually assaulted a child under 10 between 2017 and 2018 in Goulburn.

According to police, the woman allegedly concealed the two serious indictable offences by failing to provide the authorities with information which could lead to the man’s prosecution.

The Goulburn resident was also charged with resisting an officer in the execution of their duty on August 18 when she was arrested for the historial charges. She was arrested following an investigation by the Child Abuse Unit Southern Tablelands.

The court heard the Director of Public Prosecutions has taken carriage of the case, which will likely proceed to the NSW District Court.

The court heard the woman will remain behind bars on remand after she did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.

The 36-year-old will appear by audio visual link when her five charges proceed to hearing on February 10, 2022.
