A man has been refused bail after he was charged with sexually abusing a young teenage girl in the Southern Tablelands.
The 69-year-old fronted Goulburn Local Court on Thursday, facing three counts of aggravated sexual assault – victim under the age of 16 years, and aggravated sexual assault – deprive liberty (DV).
Police received reports of the matter on Wednesday, saying that a 15-year-old girl had allegedly been sexually assaulted earlier that day by a man known to her.
Following investigations by the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad, the man was arrested at about 11.35pm on the same day at a house in Goulburn, with the assistance of officers attached to the Hume Police District.
Police will allege in court the girl was in the care of the man when the assault took place.
He will reappear at Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday March 16.
