A man who is serving time for killing a sex worker in Sydney has pleaded guilty to assaulting an officer at Goulburn Correctional Centre.

Mert Ney, 23, did not appear for his matter at Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday, where he was charged for assaulting a correctional officer who was in the execution of his duty.

His plea of guilty was passed on by his lawyer, who also wanted to dispute the facts provided to court.

However Magistrate Geraldine Beattie reminded the lawyer that Mey could lose his 25 per cent sentencing discount from an early plea of guilty, if a disputed facts hearing was set.

After considering this, it was decided that representations to the prosecution first needed to be made to discuss the charge, which will need to be considered by May 25.

Ney is currently serving a jail sentence for 44 years with a non-parole period of 33 years, for fatally stabbing sex worker Michaela Dunn, 24, at a Sydney apartment in 2019, after booking an appointment with her.

He is to be sentenced for his most recent crime on June 7 at Goulburn Local Court.
