A former teacher at a Southern Highlands private school has faced court after police allege he sexually abused two teenage students on multiple occasions in the 1980s.
Brian Walter Napper, 74, appeared in Moss Vale court on Tuesday after being charged with thirteen counts of indecently assaulting two teenage students under his care.
The court heard the former teacher at Chevalier College in Burradoo has been charged with five counts of sexual assault and committing an act of indecency, six counts of sexual assault and inciting a person to an act of indecency, and two counts of homosexual intercourse with a teenager.
Police allege Mr Napper sexually assaulted two students on several occasions in the 1980s at various locations in Mittagong, Moss Vale, and Burradoo.
According to police, the Lakemba resident sexually assaulted a 14-year-old boy four times at an undisclosed location in Mittagong. Police claim Mr Napper twice stroked the student’s penis and twice masturbated him, an act which they allege he repeated the following year when the student was 15 years old.
Police allege Mr Napper incited the same 15-year-old student to masturbate him on another occasion. The former teacher escalated his sexual assaults to engage in sexual intercourse with the boy during the same year and again the following year, according to police allegations.
Police claim the former teacher sexually assaulted another male student on five occasions in the 1980s, four of which allegedly occurred in a three-month period.
According to police, Mr Napper sexually abused and incited a 15-year-old male student to masturbate him in an act of indecency. Police allege four of the offences took place in Moss Vale and the final assault occurred in Burradoo, where Chevalier College is situated.
Mr Napper was arrested at 10.15am on January 18 after an investigation by the Southern Highlands police. He was granted bail due to his age and health, court documents reveal.
He has not entered pleas to the 13 offences currently before the court.
Documents tendered to the court reveal Mr Napper was previously jailed for 18 months after he pleaded guilty to assaulting three teenage boys in the 1980s and 1990s.
Mr Napper will return to Moss Vale court on April 12 to reply to the brief of evidence collated by the police.
