Police are appealing for the public’s assistance after two pedestrians were seriously injured after they were hit by a van in the Southern Highlands on Thursday night.

Police are appealing for the public’s assistance after two pedestrians were seriously injured after they were hit by a van in the Southern Highlands on Thursday night.
At about 9.30pm a man and woman – both 49 years-old – were walking along Ellsmore Road, Exeter, when a van lost control and veered off the road.
The van, driven by a 33 year-old man, smashed a telegraph pole before hitting the pedestrians.
The woman was trapped under the van, and sustained serious leg injuries. The man received a laceration to his head. Both were taken to Liverpool Hospital.
The front seat passenger of the van, a 29 year-old man, became trapped in the vehicle from the impact and also had to be taken to the same hospital for treatment.
The driver remained uninjured and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
The Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
