After spending four months in prison on remand in what police allege was a sophisticated weed operation powered by stolen electricity the man at the centre of the claims has been bailed.

An alleged Bargo weed farmer who police say stole electricity in a sophisticated operation to grow almost 200 plants has been granted bail.

Dean George Mazuran, 30, will soon be released from the correctional centre he has called home for four months after his lawyers secured his bail in the Supreme Court on Thursday.

Police allege they stumbled onto his cannabis operation on July 8 after officers stopped him as he pulled out if his Currans Hills driveway.

Inside the car behind the back seat, they allege, was 3kg of cannabis in vacuum sealed bags.

From there police searched the home they say was “clearly erected to cultivate cannabis” where they allegedly found 189 potted plants of weed.

Eight of the nine rooms inside the property allegedly contained cannabis plants while the remaining one allegedly contained drying racks and a vacuum sealing device.

Police allege Mazuran was able to siphon electricity through a “bypass” which allowed him to power halogen lights to grow the plants.

As well as the plants, police also allegedly seized a further 8kg of cannabis in seal bags and 2.9g of methylamphetamine which was left lying on the coffee table.

Mazuran is facing charges of taking part in cannabis cultivation, possessing an illicit drug, knowingly deal with the proceeds of crime, using electricity without authority, three counts of supplying drugs and breaching the public health order.

His lawyer had previously argued in the Local Court that police had no evidence suggesting how long Mazuran had been at the property or anything suggesting he participated in cultivating the drugs.

Justice Peter Garling sitting in Sydney granted Mazuran bail after his supporters put up $10,000 for his release.

As part of his bail conditions Mazuran has agreed to a curfew and cannot drink alcohol.

His case will return to Picton Local Court later this month.
