Vella was refused bail on December 15 last year after Magistrate Geraldine Beattie said there was not enough evidence to offer her bail, but that her opinion could change after reading a justice health report.

“There’s material before me for Mrs Vella to at least have an investigation into her medication and chemo medication,” Ms Beattie previously said, when referring to the need of the report.

Magistrate Robert Rabbidge confirmed on Wednesday that the justice health report – a key detail in the matter – has since arrived and will be mentioned at the upcoming court date. Magistrate Rabbidge said the report is 22 pages long.

Crown prosecutor Nicole Johnson previously told the court Vella allegedly shot her husband with a double-barrel shotgun that was registered in her name.

Mr Hoare previously stressed his frustration with a justice health report not yet being prepared for the matter, which Magistrate Geraldine Beattie had ordered in the court date before that.

The court heard Vella has ongoing psychological problems including depression and anxiety.

Vella’s charge has since been filed and the court heard she will be examined by a psychiatrist before the next court date. The appointment is scheduled for March 24.

Vella is due to appear in Goulburn Local Court for a case conference on April 13.
