Emergency services are on scene after a wind turbine caught alight near the Hume Hwy on Thursday morning.
Firefighters responded to the blaze south west of Goulburn at Breadalbane, which was visible from the surrounding areas and highway – however due to the height of the turbine, the fire was out of reach of firefighting resources.
A NSW Rural Fire Service spokesperson said despite the height and inaccessibility of the fire, it was still contained.
Power to the turbine was isolated and RFS said they would “monitor for the potential of any grass fires surrounding the structure”.
“There is no immediate threat to nearby properties,” they said.
The spokesperson said a cause of the blaze was yet to be determined, and investigations would take time due to the height of the turbine.
“It will require a bit of work to access,” they said.
However, NSW RFS will not be conducting the investigation due to the blazes unique location; rather the wind farm operator will investigate the cause.
