A sleepy residential street in the Southern Highlands could be the new home of a major townhouse development, with the construction of 12 contemporary townhouses on a battleaxe block proposed.

The $4.4 million plans for the new multi-dwelling housing development at 3 Brewster St, Mittagong includes four two-bed, three-bed and four-bedroom townhouses, as well as a total of 24 parking spots.

A planner for the project said the proposal “promotes living in the green”.

“The proposal seeks to create a contemporary development,” the planner said. “The design of the townhouses are linear and sleek in form … aiming to encourage the residents to live consciously with their environments, balconies and courtyards have been carefully placed to bring in light and fresh air.”

Just 1km from the Mittagong town centre, the planner said the proposal was close to shops, Mittagong RSL and nature reserves including the Lake Alexandra Reserve.

Wingecarribee Shire Council will assess the proposal.
