Train services have resumed after tragic death at a Blue Mountains train station saw widespread delays of intercity services to Central.
Emergency services were called to the scene at Linden Station just before 7am after a person was fatally struck.
A Transport for NSW spokeswoman said services have resumed between Katoomba and Springwood, and there should be little delays for commuters.
“A person was struck by a train after entering the rail corridor along the Blue Mountains Line at Linden Station before 7am this morning,” she said.
“As a result of the incident, emergency services were on site and buses replaced trains for most of the morning.”
Just before 8am this morning, Sydney Trains issued a series of alerts to commuters that Blue Mountains Line services were facing extensive delays following the incident, with trains not running between Springwood and Katoomba “due to an incident requiring emergency services at Linden”.
“Trains may end or start from different locations than timetabled,” alerts to customers read.
“Consider making other travel arrangements or allow plenty of extra travel time.”
“Check transport apps or information screens for service updates.”
Multiple eastbound services have been cancelled across the Blue Mountains Line, with a series of four car trains not stopping at several stations.
