The body of a missing canyoner was found in the Blue Mountains after a second day search.

The body of a 39-year-old man was located during the search about 11am.

About 5pm on Sunday, Blue Mountains Police Area Command Officers received reports a man had gone missing in the Wollangambe River, Mt Wilson area at about 3pm that day.

Police understand the St Ives man had been canyoning with a group.

A search of the water and surrounding areas, assisted by specialist police attached to Police Rescue and PolAir, as well as NSW Ambulance, was suspended about 7pm due to low light.

The search resumed at 9am on Monday morning.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
