Five people have narrowly escaped injury after a major fire erupted overnight at a home in the Blue Mountains.
Seven Fire and Rescue crews, including an aerial platform, rushed to Outlook Ave in Mount Riverview at 10:05pm Sunday and found the top floor of the two-storey home on fire.
The residents evacuated the home before the top floor collapsed.
One of the occupants, suffering shock, was transported to hospital.
Firefighters extinguished the fire at 2am. It is believed the blaze was started by a heater left too close to flammable material.
Fire and Rescue NSW have urged the public to ensure no furnishings or materials are less than a metre from a heater, and to have a home fire escape plan ready to use in the event of a blaze.
