POLICE have called for witnesses to come forward following the death of a woman whose car was ploughed into by tip truck in Blacktown on Monday night.
The woman, 24, was rushed to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition with serious head injuries in the crash, about 7.25pm on August 13.
She was left clinging to life but died in hospital on Wednesday night.
Police said the woman was stopped at the intersection of Flushcombe Rd and the Great Western Highway in a Suzuki Swift hatchback when a Hino tip truck travelling east slammed into the car from behind.
The truck, which was carrying an excavator, was being driven by a 35-year-old man. He escaped serious injury.
The force of the impact pushed the woman’s car on the median strip.
NSW Ambulance spokesman said the woman was trapped and unconscious when paramedics arrived.
“She was in a very bad way,” he said.
Footage of the aftermath shows significant damage to the white Suzuki, with the force of the impact crumpling its rear end.
