Police are hunting a gunman after two men were shot in Tregear in a targeted attack this morning.
Just after 5.30am, a 35-year-old man presented to Mt Druitt Hospital suffering a gunshot wound to his leg.
Mt Druitt Police were called to the hospital and later attended a house on Tula Pl, Tregear, where they found a second man with gunshot wounds to his leg and back.
The man, also aged 35, was taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
Mt Druitt Police Area Commander Detective Superintendent Trent King said the attack was not random.
“We believe the men are known to each other and that it’s a targeted attack,” he said.
“It’s difficult to tell the motive.
“It’s early in the investigation and part of the investigation is to establish exactly what did occur this morning and where it occurred.”
He said it was not yet known if the men were shot at the house or at another location.
Police have ruled out bikie and drug links to the shooting.
Officers were seen investigating a property in neighbouring Lethbridge Park this morning, but police could not yet confirm if the property was linked to this morning’s shooting.
Police are investigating and a crime scene has been set up at the Tregear property.
Officers expect to speak with the injured men in hospital later today. The men remain in a stable condition.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Mt Druitt Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
