A Finks bikie leader who was on the run from police in Queensland and regularly taunted officers on social media, has been arrested in western Sydney.
Tayne Clarkson, 21, president of the Gold Coast chapter of the Finks outlaw motorcycle gang, was nabbed by Strike Force Raptor detectives in Mt Druitt on Thursday, with two warrants out for his arrest.
According to court documents, Clarkson had been on the run from police over an alleged armed robbery in company and grievous bodily harm.
Despite fleeing Queensland, NSW Police had been tracking Clarkson online, following his Instagram account, “Cashedarp”, where he often bragged about evading arrest.
In one post, police allege Clarkson wrote: “F**k Raptor. They can’t catch me.”
Police initially alleged seeing a firearm in the background of one of Clarkson’s Instagram live videos.
Tracing his movements to a house in Tregear, police observed Clarkson leave the property on Rymill Rd with two associates at 1pm on July 23, before officers in an armed and dangerous vehicle pulled him over on the Great Western Highway in Mt Druitt.
During a search of the car, police found a container with 16g of MDMA under the front seat.
A short time later, officers conducted a Firearms Prohibition Order search on the Tregear home, but did not find any firearms.
He faces two charges, including supplying and possessing a prohibited drug.
According to police documents, Clarkson is understood to be from Victoria, but is currently without a fixed address.
He is currently banned from associating with anyone connected to any bikie gang. He is also prohibited from wearing any bikie gang paraphernalia or visiting any bikie-related locations, including clubhouses.
Police said Clarkson was “well aware of his (wanted status)” and was at risk of fleeing again if granted bail.
During a brief appearance and Mt Druitt Local Court on Friday, Clarkson pleaded guilty to both offences.
He was refused bail and will be sentenced at the same court in September.
