A Sydney Trains worker has been stood down after ugly footage emerged of an employee stamping on the head of a disabled man at Blacktown station this week — knocking him out cold.

An investigation as been launched into Monday night’s incident, which left a blind man unconscious on the platform.

But it is understood police have taken the view that the blind man, who was allegedly drunk after consuming half a bottle of vodka during his half-hour train ride, was the instigator of the scuffle.

A security guard dragged him off the train about 7.30pm after the man stood in the doorway preventing the doors from closing. The man had also allegedly been disorderly while on the train.

Mobile phone footage taken midway through the confrontation shows the man clinging to the leg of the shirtless security guard while staff gather around.

The man’s guide dog can be seen nearby as the guard tries to free his leg from the man’s grip. Another staff member then intervenes by kicking the man’s head, instantly ending the confrontation as the man lies motionless.

The blind man was bleeding from the nose and mouth.

He was later handcuffed after refusing to co-operate with police and was taken to Blacktown Hospital for treatment.

A security guard was also taken to hospital for treatment to a bite wound on his arm.

A Sydney Trains spokesman confirmed one employee had been stood down pending the outcome of an investigation.

Sydney Trains has also told the security contractor which employs guards at Blacktown to remove the two employees involved in the incident from the network.

“This incident at Blacktown station is unacceptable and Sydney Trains would like to reassure customers that we take their safety and security very seriously,” he said.

Blacktown Detective Inspector Paul Tickner said no victim had made a formal complaint to police over the incident.
