Lighting upgrade begins at Sydney Motorsport Park Eastern Creek

While sport idles due to the coronavirus, work has begun on the upgrade to Sydney Motorsport Park at Eastern Creek.
Permanent lighting is now being installed at the motorsport venue in Sydney’s west - currently closed due to the Covid-19 crisis - as part of a $33 million upgrade to facilities.
The 2020 Lighting Project at Western Sydney Motorsport Precinct will open the way for night racing at the venue.

“NSW Motorsport fans are passionate and deserve the best and we are delivering on our election promise to fund these terrific precinct improvements,” said Acting Minister for Sport Geoff Lee.
“There are 134 lighting poles being installed with world class LED technology used on tracks like Daytona in the United States and Sepang in Malaysia.”
The upgrade of Sydney Motorsport Park also includes $11 million in enhancements for Sydney International Dragway, $6.4 million to construct a Motor Sports Centre of Excellence and work to find an operations site for Motorcycling NSW.
Minister for Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said the upgrades will boost tourism.

“The upgrade of Sydney Motorsport Park will enable the site to host some of the biggest motor racing events in Australia, providing a tourism and economic shot in the arm for Western Sydney,” he said.
“It will also give NSW motorsport fans what they have been craving with more world-class motor racing events on their doorstep.”
Australian Racing Drivers Club CEO Glenn Matthews said lighting will enable the park to host more events than ever.
“Lighting allows us to fit even more events into our busy calendar but also opens doors for substantial opportunities to further grow the Western Sydney night economy,” he said.
