Blacktown City Football Club looking for fresh talent

IF YOU have ever dreamt of playing in the same club as the defending champions, now is your chance.

Blacktown City is calling on players to register for the club’s inaugural season playing in the Blacktown and Districts Soccer Football Association competitions.

Blacktown City players are the defending champions in the National Premier League, with promising star Danny Choi having a stint in the A-league for Adelaide United.

Budding soccer stars are invited to play in the Under-9 and Under-16 teams. Blacktown City Football Club business director Chris Michael said the focused age group was to help develop grassroots players and give them an opportunity to play in the community.

The club is hoping to start an Under 7-8 years program as well.

“The season starts in six to eight weeks and players can be signed throughout the season, so don’t worry if you miss out,” Michael said.

The club also applied to have a women’s club and was approved.

He said the club was aiming to have 15 women.

Michael has been in his role for a few months, and says he loves the job.

“Every time I get paid, I think I’m robbing them,” he said.

“There is nothing better than doing a job that you love.”

The self-confession football junkie and “diehard” fan said he was “always happy” when at work.

Michael is passionate about fostering more talent through the club.

There are also volunteer roles available for coaches, managers or committee members.

The club invites sponsors for this season.
