The Blacktown Bears have been selected to represent NSW in the first Holden Junior Women’s State of Origin match.

Blacktown will take the field against a Queensland junior club at halftime of Friday’s Holden Women’s State of Origin game at North Sydney Oval.

The Bears took part in one of the inaugural Penrith District Junior Rugby League all-girls competitions earlier this year and also played in an exhibition game at halftime of the Penrith Panthers’ round two NRL clash with South Sydney in March.

Ruan met the players and gave some words of advice to the team ahead of the big game on Friday night.

Injured NSW and Jillaroos star Ruan Sims visited the team last week to deliver the good news.

“They were very, very excited, it was wonderful,” Sims said. “They did so well during the season and it’s a deserving reward for them.”

Sims said she was proud to see how much the game has developed.

“It’s a massive leap for us that girls have these opportunities,” she said.
