More than 50 new homes have been approved for a growing Blacktown suburb.

Plans for a housing development, at 129 Kensington Park Rd in Riverstone, were lodged by western Sydney developer Bathla group and approved by the Blacktown City Council earlier this month.

Plans state the development includes 57 new townhouses, described as units, which will have between three and five bedrooms and a carport.

The project is estimated to cost around $11.2m.

Document plans state 12 visitor parks are included in the development, along with one extra car space for around five units.

The land will be split into three blocks - one with 23 units, one with ten units and one with 24 units - each including at least one 8.5m wide private road.

Grandeur Parade will also be extended to connect with McCullough St, the documents state.

The developed land spans the length of McCullough St between Kensington Park Rd and Cranbourne St.

The approval comes amid a push by the NSW Government to create more housing in line with the National Housing Accord, which aims to deliver 1.2m new homes across the country between June 2024 and June 2029.

NSW’s contribution target for the accord is 377,000 new homes, with several council’s across the state given their own targets to help reach this goal.

Blacktown council’s target is 21,400 new homes - the second highest target behind the Hills Shire at 23,300 new homes.

Bathla has been contacted for comment.
