A Sylvania man with suspected links to the Comanchero bikie gang who police allege masterminded a drug-supply racket in Sydney’s western suburbs will remain behind bars until at least May.
Richard Schaaf, 27, did not appear during a brief mention in Penrith Local Court on a string of drug supply and stolen goods charges.
Schaaf was arrested in an early morning raid at his Sylvania home in May last year after police allege he led a group that dealt 250 grams of cocaine from a Doonside house between November 2018 and May 2019.
Police said the property became a “location of interest” due to regular visits from Schaaf and other Comanchero associates.
A 28-year-old man who was also charged in relation to the incident allegedly used his family home as a safe house for illicit drugs cocaine, ice and cannabis.
During a search of the Doonside property, police allegedly found 71 bottles of unopened liquor, 26 boxes of brand-new shoes, 62 unopened bottles of perfume and cologne, and 60 items of clothing with security tags still attached.
They will allege these were proceeds of the drug-supply racket, along with a 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLE63 worth $120,000 and a Toyota Hilux worth $15,000.
Schaaf was also allegedly found with $109,177.10 in cash, as well as 3.74 grams of cannabis and 15mm of Trenbolone.
He was scheduled to be committed for a trial on three counts of supplying a prohibited drug, five counts of dealing with the proceeds of crime, four counts of possession of unlawfully obtained goods, possessing a prohibited drug, possessing a prescribed restricted substance, and knowingly direct activities of a criminal group.
However, the prosecution adjourned the matter to May 1 for extra time to prepare a charge certificate.
The court heard Schaaf will next appear at Sutherland Local Court on March 18 on unrelated charges of stalk/intimidate with intent to cause fear and using a carriage service to menace or harass.
His lawyer indicated he would plead not guilty to the charges. Magistrate Brian van Zuylen officially refused bail.
