A teenager who was stabbed was last seen by shopkeepers bleeding in a walkway in Mt Druitt is well-known for anti-social behaviour.
The teen is in a serious condition after being stabbed outside a convenience store on North Pde yesterday.
Police were called just before 6pm on Monday when they found a 16-year-old boy with stab wounds.
Shopkeepers nearby said they saw a boy running through a mall with a bloody cut to his arm before police arrived 10 minutes later.
Another shopkeeper, who did not wish to be named, said they heard a fight break out before emergency crews arrived.
Some shop staff said the walkway, which connects Mt Druitt Station to Dawson Mall, was well-known for anti-social behaviour and did not feel safe after hours.
The boy was treated by paramedics at the scene before he was taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a serious condition.
