A wave of brawls, stabbings and murders linked to gangs in western Sydney have left residents in shock and fear.
As tensions rise over suburban turf and postcodes, rival gangs are increasingly turning to public acts of violence to settle disputes.
With little regard for public safety, gang members have taken to the streets, a train station platform and even the gaming room of a pub in their growing list of wild feuds.
These are some of the most shocking from recent years which have shaped Sydney’s gang wars.
ROOTY HILL TRAIN STATION BRAWL
Commuters were forced to watch on in horror one afternoon when rival gang members brandished knives, machetes and a hammer at a busy western Sydney train station.
The beef between OneFour and Inner West gang members saw six young males descend on Rooty Hill train station with weapons during peak hour in June last year.
Shocking CCTV footage captured four armed males from OneFour threatening Inner West members before they retreated to a train carriage.
OneFour member Frank Bosco, 18, was one of six males charged over the brawl. The teen brandished a 30cm hammer in the fight while hurling threats at Inner West members who were armed with a machete.
The court heard the altercation erupted as a means to resolve a personal dispute – a reason that was unsurprisingly lashed by the sentencing magistrate.
Bosco was sentenced to 14 months’ jail, with a non-parole period of eight months.
MT DRUITT VILLAGE HOTEL BRAWL
Two men were stabbed and another was hit by a car when warring gangs set upon each other in a pub car park one State of Origin night.
The violent scenes played out in front of terrified patrons at the Mt Druitt Village Hotel on the night of June 19, 2019.
Onlookers scrambled to lock the gates to the pub and call police when up to 20 men from Inner West and OneFour brawled in the car park.
The fight was sparked by ongoing gang tensions, which came to a head when an Inner West member was filmed being taunted by OneFour members at Guildford train station.
Seeking revenge, Inner West members travelled in a convoy of vehicles out to the pub before seeking out OneFour members watching the footy.
Broken pool cues, knives, glass bottles and a bloodied golf club snapped in half were all that remained at the scene when police arrived.
Eight men have now been sentenced over their roles in the violence, with popular OneFour rapper Salec Sua jailed for up to 14 months.
CAROUSEL INN ROOTY HILL
A man was left motionless in a pool of blood when OneFour rappers set upon him in the pokies room of a Rooty Hill hotel almost three years ago.
The Carousel Inn was the scene of the violent attack, which saw four OneFour members brawl with three men in a dispute over a pokie machine one night in July 2018.
Three OneFour rappers – Salec Sua, Pio “YP” Misa and Dahcell “Celly” Ramos – and two associates, launched into the brawl when one of the victims approached Sua at a pokie machine.
A hammer and wooden chair leg were used by the group to assault the three men, with one victim left with significant facial fractures.
Horrifying CCTV footage showed Sua approach one of the men and shake his head as he lay on the floor in a pool of blood.
Sua was hit with up to four years and six months jail time, while Misa and Ramos were sentenced to terms of imprisonment of four years and 10 years respectively for their roles.
PLUMPTON MCDONALD’S BRAWL
Staff were left cowering in horror when an encounter between opposing gang members turned violent outside a western Sydney fast-food restaurant.
A chance meeting of neighbouring gangs OneFour and 67 led to an all-in brawl in the carpark of Plumpton McDonald’s last December.
A heated exchange between the groups quickly escalated when OneFour member Trench Tuifua was dragged out of his car by an associate while his 67 rivals went for their knives.
Tuifua brawled with a man in the car park when a rival gang member ran into the scuffle while brandishing a knife.
The terrifying scenes were filmed on a mobile phone and uploaded to TikTok.
Tuifua was sentenced to a non-parole period of eight months in jail.
MT DRUITT FOOTY MATCH BRAWL
Families were exposed to gratuitous gang violence when OneFour members gatecrashed a Pacific Islander football match in 2019.
A group of up to 10 males and OneFour associates descended on the Toko Uso Cup day in Mt Druitt in October 2019, leaving two men with serious injuries.
The victims had their heads stomped on by the gang members near a toilet block in front of shocked children and spectators.
Members of the public were forced to intervene to break up the brawl and detain one of the main aggressors, Benjamin Falefoou, until police arrived.
Spectators were left in shock when they witnessed up to four men assault each of the male victims as they lay on the ground.
Falefoou narrowly avoided jail time and was hit with a Community Corrections Order for 15 months and 100 hours of community service.
