A major supermarket and several international food restaurants are among the latest Sydney venues to be hit with allegations of breaching food safety standards.
New figures have shown 48 venues in the Sydney LGA have been issued a penalty notice in the last six months.
Many of the notices relate to allegations of poor cleanliness in venues, lacking suitable hygiene practices and preventing food from being contaminated.
The data comes from a “name and shame” list shared by the NSW Food Authority, which lists businesses who have been handed penalty notices across the state.
Some businesses on the list have been hit with multiple fines during inspections, including The Noodle House at Burwood - which racked up eight infringements.
Numbers from the NSW Food Safety Authority showed 53,582 inspections were conducted across the industry sector between July 1 2022 and 30 June 2023, with an overall compliance rate of 97 per cent.
