Mr Singh thanked the community for electing him for his third term.

“It’s a very humbling experience for me personally,” he said.

“We have made plans to transform Blacktown City including (the) CBD and we will work for that in the next term.”

He said Ward 1 needed better infrastructure, which he intended to continue advocating for with the state and federal governments.

Mr Diaz thanked voters for their continued support.

“I am happy with the results of these elections, with voters moving significantly away from the Labor Party,” he said.

“The results show (voters) demand for a say and greater transparency on how the city can be transformed and that the basic services are not neglected.”

He said the new council has a Labor majority, but only by one councillor, and that the long-standing attitude of ignoring the opposition “should not prevail”.

Mr Green said he was very thankful to be re-elected, having been first elected in 1987.

“I want to give special thanks to my wife Malu, my running mates councillors Jess Diaz and Rahul Rawal and the members of the local community who supported my campaign,” he said.

Mr Green has been elected to council seven times, making him the longest serving council member.

“I am committed to continue giving good representation to the residents of Ward 1 and I am focused on improving basic services and local and community facilities,” he said.
