A western Sydney man who allegedly stabbed a man during a shocking home invasion, before stealing a PlayStation and a pair of shoes, was stolen has returned to court.

Jason Skelton, 18, of Mt Druitt, appeared before Blacktown Local Court on Thursday on a charge of aggravated robbery causing grievous bodily harm after an alleged break-in at Lalor Park on October 27.

Alongside four other men, Skelton is alleged by police to have forced his way into the home on Mountfort St shortly after midnight, before stabbing a 20-year-old man and taking a PlayStation and pair of Nike shoes.

The resident, who was the only person home at the time, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being flown to Westmead Hospital for further treatment. He later underwent surgery.

In the hours after, police – with the assistance of Polair – conducted a search of the area where four males aged 16, 17, 18, and 19 were arrested at Wheeler Park.

On March 8, detectives from Strike Force Compacta arrested a fifth man, aged 17, at Riverstone police station, where he was charged with aggravated robbery with wounding or causing grievous bodily harm.

Appearing at Blacktown Local Court on Thursday, Skelton’s lawyer criticised police for not having provided “any materials” in the five months since he was first charged.

The court heard the Director of Public Prosecutions had one month to submit a police brief of evidence with Skelton’s lawyers, with the charges at risk of crossing the six-month threshold.

After that, Skelton’s lawyers could apply to have the charges dismissed.

A second coaccused – Bostyn Graham, 19, of Mount Druitt – also appeared before Blacktown Court.

Graham also faces a charge of aggravated robbery while committing grievous bodily harm.

His lawyer told court the 19-year-old was in a similar position, with charges to laps within the month.

Both men, who are on bail, will reappear before the same court on March 30.
