An alleged middle-aged hoon charged over leading police on a high-speed chase before being found by police dogs hiding in a garage, remains behind bars on remand.

Michael Grinham, 52, of Mt Druitt, was excused from appearing at Blacktown Local Court today after he allegedly reached speeds of up to 160km/h on an unregistered motorbike on the M4 Motorway at Eastern Creek earlier this month.

Police say Mr Grinham was clocked travelling at 140km/h in a 100km/h zone on a Yamaha R6 motorcycle just after 8.30pm on April 13.

He allegedly failed to stop for police and led officers on a dangerous chase before evading them in a park on Bromfield Ave, Prospect.

With the help of the dog squad, police searched the area and found Mr Grinham hiding in the garage of a nearby property he had allegedly entered.

He faces three charges, including police pursuit (not stop, drive recklessly), driving while disqualified and entering enclosed lands.

Police say Mr Grinham had been convicted of a police pursuit in the past.

In court today, Mr Grinham’s defence solicitor said he would enter a plea to the matter at the next court date.

The case will return to court on May 5.
