Greenway voters have ranked the cost of living as the top issue ahead of this Saturday’s Federal Election.

About 66 per cent of voters highlighted keeping living costs down as one of their top issues, as revealed in the Australian Futures Project’s ‘Perfect Candidate’, which uses data collected in Roy Morgan surveys last year to identify key issues in each electorate.

Improving health services and hospitals was flagged as the second biggest issue, with 61 per cent of the vote, while managing immigration and population growth ranked as the third highest issue.

Fair workplace and employment regulations ranked fourth, ahead of global warming and climate change and improving education.

Managing the economy came in next, with 21 per cent of the vote, slightly above open and honest government.

Rounding out the survey was reducing taxes and reducing crime and maintaining law and order.

The cost of living was the number one issue in most Australian electorates.

In other key findings, one in three people included hospitals and health services as a high priority.

That support was even more pronounced in electorates like Greenway.

Greenway voters will have a choice of six candidates for the lower house in Saturday’s Federal Election, as Labor vies to maintain its stronghold over the seat.

The federal seat of Greenway covers the area from Prospect and Girraween in the south to Riverstone (part) and Vineyard (part) in the North. Suburbs include Blacktown (part), Glenwood, Girraween, Kellyville Ridge, Kings Langley, Kings Park, Lalor Park, Parklea, Prospect, Quakers Hill (part), Riverstone (part), Rouse Hill (part), Schofields (part), Seven Hills, Stanhope Gardens and Vineyard (part).

Greenway is considered a safe Labor seat, held by Labor incumbent Michelle Rowland since 2010, with a 3.33 per cent swing to Labor.

Prior to this, the seat was held by Liberal Louise Markus from 2004 to 2010.

Labor has won the seat in all other federal elections since the seat’s inception in 1984.

Predictions for Saturday’s poll have the seat being held by Labor, with a slightly increased margin of 6.3 per cent.

While the seat became safer for Labor in 2016, boundary changes have seen varying results in past elections.
