A man charged over the stabbing death of a doting dad in Sydney’s west almost three years ago is set to fight the charges.
Colyton man Jake Burns, 23, is one of five men charged with murder following the death of Erol Tokcan, 36, at his Dharruk home in March 2018.
Burns faced Penrith Local Court on Friday where it was heard he would be committed to stand trial on the charge.
Police allege Mr Tokcan died after suffering a single stab wound to the chest when Burns and four other men allegedly entered his home on Livingston Ave just before 10pm on March 9.
It’s alleged the group of men stabbed Mr Tokcan in front of his terrified girlfriend before fleeing the scene.
Detectives made the first arrest in November 2018, charging a 23-year-old Whalan man with murder. He remains before the courts.
Police made a further breakthrough last March, when they arrested Burns and three other western Sydney men – Ryan Hall, 24, Bradley Farrell, 28, and Jerami Dillion Edward Angelos, 23.
They each face a charge of being an accessory after the fact to murder.
Defence solicitors of Hall and Angelos told the court charges were expected to be negotiated before any pleas would be entered.
The men will return to court later this month.
