Blacktown City’s local COVID-19 cases are on the rise, as the state teeters on the edge of a second wave of the deadly virus.

According to data from NSW Health, two locally-acquired cases have been confirmed in the Blacktown Local Government Area in the four weeks to July 15.

The data includes cases with either a known and unknown source of infection and comes after more than 18,600 tests.

Since the pandemic began, the Blacktown LGA has recorded 142 coronavirus cases, with two active cases remaining in Schofields.

Since June 23, residents from six postcodes in the Blacktown LGA have tested positive to the virus.

However, it is important to note these figures are based on the location of a person’s usual residence, and are not necessarily where the virus was contracted.
