Boys lead police on high-speed pursuit through western Sydney

TWO underage boys, one claiming to be a Brothers for Life member and another allegedly under the influence of methylamphetamine, allegedly led police on a wild pursuit through western Sydney last night.

TWO underage boys - one claiming to be a member of the Brothers for Life bikie gang and another allegedly under the influence of methylamphetamine - led police on a wild pursuit through western Sydney on Sunday night.

Police allege the boys, 15 and 14, were driving in a stolen car when officers attached to specialist organised crime squad Strike Force Raptor spotted the vehicle as it ran a red light at the intersection of Luxford and Popondetta roads, Bidwill about 10.40pm last night.

That sparked an alleged high-speed pursuit which only ended when the Mazda 3 ran off the road when the driver misjudged a bend in the road at the intersection of St Marys and Stony Creek roads at Berkshire Park.

The PolAir helicopter assisted police in the pursuit and saw the younger boy, 14, flee from the car and into nearby bushland.

He was arrested soon after, as was the alleged driver, 15, who was still behind the wheel when police arrived.

It’s alleged the Mazda had been reported stolen from Leichhardt on Friday, September 7.

Both boys were taken to Riverstone police station, before the 14-year-old was taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead for treatment for alleged methylamphetamine intoxication.

The older boy, who police allege is a self-proclaimed member of Brothers For Life, was charged with several offences including not stopping and reckless driving in a police pursuit, driving a conveyance taken without consent of the owner, and never licensed person driving vehicle on road with a prior offence.

He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court later today (Monday, September 10).

The younger boy will be issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for the charge of being carried in conveyance without consent of owner.
