A STRANGER lured a seven-year-old boy to the shops from his Lalor Park schoolyard last month.

Police said a man who was loitering near Lalor Park Public School on Wednesday August 31 approached the boy about 8am.

The child saw a man of islander appearance, about 175cm tall, thin build, aged in his mid to late 20s with green eyes, wearing a red jumper, dark blue pants with a stripe running down the legs and also wearing a black and grey baseball cap on the footpath outside the school fence on Northcott Rd.

The man gestured to the child to move closer to the fence line. The child walked towards the man who said: “Come to the shops with me and I’ll buy you something.”

The boy accompanied the man to a nearby shop where the stranger purchased a packet of chips. The child returned to the school grounds. The child was not assaulted by the man but police said the potential risk to the child was of great concern.

Police are continuing investigations.
