Blacktown Council has announced a new ‘Splash Pad’ will be likely ready to use by Christmas at the Blacktown Aquatic Centre.
The Splash Pad is expected to be the hottest new destination to cool off this summer with the design fit for kids of all ages.
Construction began last month on the facility that contains sandstone block seating with a shade sail to provide sun protection over a portion of the splash pad.
Blacktown Mayor Tony Bleasdale said he is delighted by the new water attraction.
“I am delighted to see work commence on this fantastic project ahead of the summer swimming season,” said Mayor Bleasdale.
“There will be different water features and play zones, which have been designed to suit all ages and abilities.
“The feature will also incorporate art designed by local Indigenous artists. I eagerly await the
opening of this wonderful amenity.”
Blacktown Council said Splash Pad is expected to open before Christmas, unless there are unforeseen delays due to rain or further Covid related shutdowns.
