Blacktown police charge 25-year-old Schofields man after 64-year-old supermarket worker allegedly ‘seriously assaulted’, critical in hospital
Police have charged a man after a supermarket worker was allegedly “seriously assaulted” at his workplace at the weekend, leaving him in a critical condition. See the footage.

A supermarket worker is in a critical condition after he was allegedly “seriously assaulted” at a Blacktown shopfront.
Police released CCTV footage of a man believed to be connected to the incident at the Patrick St supermarket on Sunday night as they appealled for public assistance in their investigation.
At about 1.30pm on Monday, a 25-year-old man was arrested at a Schofields home.
It is alleged a man entered the self-service area of the supermarket just before 6.30pm on February 18 when the older employee stopped him as he reportedly attempted to leave the store without paying for items.
A NSW Police spokesperson said the man allegedly pushed the 64-year-old employee “causing him to fall backwards and strike his head on the floor”.
“The injured employee was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital where his condition deteriorated and he remains in a critical condition,” they said.
The man who allegedly walked away from the scene was last seen boarding a train at Schofields Railway Station.
In a statement released after the 25-year-old man’s arrest on Monday, police confirmed the man had been charged with reckless grievous bodly harm and tow counts of larceny.
He was refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court on Tuesday.
