Blacktown police news: Rider disqualified from driving until 2046 charged after chase, crash

A man disqualified from driving for 27 years has been charged after allegedly stealing a motorbike, leading police on a chase and crashing it into a tree in Prospect.

PROSPECT

A motorbike rider who is disqualified from driving for 27 years has been hit with further charges.

Police said the 32-year-old was detected speeding on the M4 on Sunday, September 8, when he allegedly failed to stop for officers.

A chase ensued but was stopped due to dangerous driving. A short time later, the motorbike was found abandoned on the Prospect Highway after he crashed it into a tree.

The rider, who is disqualified from driving until 2046, was arrested in bushes nearby.

It’s alleged the motorbike he was riding was stolen.

The 32-year-old rider was treated at Westmead Hospital with two broken legs. Upon his release, he was charged with being involved in a police pursuit, negligent driving, driving while disqualified, taking a conveyance without the owner’s consent and two counts of driving recklessly/furiously/or in a dangerous manner. He was refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court on September 12.

GLENWOOD

A Glenwood man has been charged after a series of alleged assaults in Northmead and Parramatta recently.

The 20-year-old was arrested after a raid on a home in Beaumont Ave, Glenwood.

Police allege the man was involved in two separate incidents last month, including a violent confrontation at a Northmead birthday party on August 3 where a teenage boy was stabbed. Police allege the man was also involved in the robbery and assault of two men walking along the Lennox St Bridge in Parramatta on August 17.

It’s alleged the 20-year-old was part of a group that stole a watch and followed one of the men into a convenience store where they allegedly assaulted one of the men again and struck him with a machete.

The Glenwood man was charged with affray/robbery in company and was given strict bail to face Parramatta Local Court on November 7.

BIDWILL

A police officer was lucky to escape injury after being dragged several hundred metres along a road by an alleged hoon near Mt Druitt.

Police said the incident unfolded on Tout Rd, Bidwill, just after 10pm on September 5. Officers were called to the area after receiving complaints about a number of cars doing burnouts.

A Bidwill man, 18, was allegedly seen doing burnouts in a Toyota Hilux ute. A senior constable approached the ute and attempted to take the keys out of the ignition when the driver allegedly hit the accelerator and drove off, forcing the officer to hold on for 200 metres while hanging outside the driver’s window.

The officer was uninjured and the driver was arrested.

A search of the car allegedly located cannabis.

He was charged with driving in a dangerous manner and possessing a prohibited drug.

His licence was suspended and he was granted bail to face Mt Druitt Local Court on September 25.

MT DRUITT

Three men are on the run after allegedly robbing a man at knifepoint at Mt Druitt station and fleeing in his car.

Police say the trio threatened a man, 56, with a knife after approaching him on Beames Ave about 7.15pm on September 2.

The alleged victim had got off a train at the station and walked to his car when the men demanded his wallet and car keys. Police say the men fled the scene in the man’s white Nissan X-Trail, with NSW rego number DNR 42K.

One of the men is described as being caucasian with a skinny build. He was wearing a white T-shirt and a dark, hooded jumper.

The two other men are described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, of medium build and wearing shorts.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time to call Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
