Members of a western Sydney drill rap group have been jailed after instigating a violent fight with a rival group, which left one teen dead and two others seriously wounded.

In the NSW Supreme Court on Friday, Panashe Morgan Ryan Karise, Ibrahima Diallo, and two other co-accused’s – known by the courts as AD and AG due to being juveniles at the time – were convicted and sentenced for charges of manslaughter, cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder and wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

A jury previously found the two men and two youths not guilty of murder, but guilty of the alternate charge of manslaughter.

A fifth co-accused, YA, previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter and two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The court heard in 2021, a violent confrontation between rival drill rap groups and criminal enterprises ‘Money Over Bitches’ (MOB) and Queen Street Boys (QSB) ended in the fatal stabbing of Oliver Coleman, 19, and wounding of two males.

The five co-accuseds, associated with MOB, arrived at Mr Coleman’s house on William St, Blacktown, late on September 1, 2021, armed with knives and blades.

The court heard they “goaded” him to come outside and confront them, with the altercation sparked by a series of social media disputes between the rival groups.

A number of Snapchat messages between the co-accused’s also revealed their intention to cause grievous harm, the court was told.

“If ya’ll die in this beef I’ll laugh,” AD texted. “(We) should run through it tomorrow cuz, get a few n----rs on our blade and rob them.”

The court was told AD also said “What if the ops kill you?” and “get the white kid (Oliver Coleman) first”.

“Put one of the n----rs in a [coffin emoji],” AG had also texted.

Photos of Mr Coleman posted to social media in the lead up to the fight suggested he was a particular target, the court was told.

The court was told the group also suggested “running through the crib” and making “the ops (opposition) strip naked and get on their knees”.

On the night of September 1, several triple-zero reports were made to emergency services by neighbours witnessing the incident.

During sentencing, Justice Peter Hamill noted one of the wounded males would have died of his injuries without the “heroic” intervention of paramedics on scene.

Justice Hamill noted a number of the co-accused’s had come from “disrupted” and “dysfunctional” childhoods, experiencing racially-motivated bullying, chronic substance abuse and continue to suffer serious mental health issues including chronic depression, PTSD, and other behavioural disorders.

“(One of the co-accuseds) stated that (being with MOB) was the first time he experienced a sense of belonging,” Justice Hamill said.

He sentenced Karise to 10 years imprisonment with a non-parole period of seven and a half years and Diallo to seven and a half years imprisonment with a non-parole period of five years.

AD was sentenced to eight years imprisonment with a non-parole period of five years to be served as a juvenile until he turns 21, while AG was sentenced to six years imprisonment with a non-parole period of four years to be served as a juvenile until he turns 21.

YA was sentenced to six years and nine months imprisonment with a non-parole period of four years and three months.
