Cardiology registrar Dr Manoj Rajamohan is encouraging young doctors to look towards Blacktown Hospital to start their careers.

Up to 4000 junior medical officers across NSW are being called to apply in the state’s annual recruitment drive.

Dr Rajamohan completed his internship and residency at Blacktown Hospital in 2012 and 2013 and undertook further studies at the Prince of Wales Hospital before returning.

“I definitely wanted to come back to Blacktown, the cardiology training is fantastic, the Blacktown area is very populated,’’ he said.

“It’s certainly a place we can make a lot of difference in comparison to eastern Sydney which is oversupplied (with doctors).’’

Dr Rajamohan said the hospital provided support for junior and senior doctors.

“It was almost a little brother to Westmead but with the funding and new developments, Blacktown is coming into its own … and there are more opportunities for new doctors to train.”
