A woman has been taken to Westmead Hospital after a car reversed and struck her at Blacktown on Wednesday morning.

A CareFlight helicopter landed at Alpha Park while police and NSW Ambulance crews rushed to Colo Lane near Kelso Lane where a sedan struck the woman while she stood on the footpath at 11.20am.

NSW Ambulance Chief Inspector Brian Parsell said the woman was driven to Westmead Hospital in a stable but serious condition with a fractured lower leg.

Police remain at the scene.

Blacktown Detective Sergeant Grant Findley said the woman hit her head on concrete but her injuries were not life threatening.

He said the driver knew the pedestrian so the incident “was not sinister”.

“They’re known to each other so it’s purely an accident,’’ he said.
