A man has admitted to spitting on a woman at a fast-food restaurant in Sydney’s north west during the height of the coronavirus lockdown.
Bill Papakonstandinou, 43, of Marrickville, pleaded guilty to one count of common assault at Blacktown Local Court today.
He was charged after an incident at McDonald’s Kellyville Ridge on April 9, when he spat on a fellow customer when he was advised he could not dine-in at the facility due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Police say Papakonstandinou ordered food and attempted to dine at the outdoor tables when he was told by staff restrictions prevented him from doing so.
After he refused to leave, a woman, 34, began filming him on her mobile when he spat on her face.
He left the restaurant but was arrested by police a short time later.
He could face up to six months’ jail and an $11,000 fine.
He will be sentenced at Blacktown Local Court on July 27.
