Trump says he will demand lower interest rates immediately

John F. Kennedy Jr’s grandson has unleashed on President Donald Trump after he

signed an executive order declassifying files on the 1960s assassinations of president John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert F. Kennedy and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

“A lot of people have been waiting for this for years, for decades,” Mr Trump told reporters as he signed the order in the Oval Office of the White House.

“Everything will be revealed.”

Jack Schlossberg accused President Trump of using slain President John F. Kennedy as a “political prop,”.

The grandson, 31, of the 35th president took to social media saying: “JFK conspiracy theories — The truth is alot [sic] sadder than the myth – a tragedy that didn’t need to happen.”

“Not part of an inevitable grand scheme,” he tweeted.

“Declassification is using JFK as a political prop, when he’s not here to punch back,” added Schlossberg, who has gained notoriety with the help of his family ties.

“There’s nothing heroic about it.”

It comes after a powerful speech that produced shocked mumurs and applause from its audience where Mr Trump told world business leaders to manufacture in the United States or face tariffs, in his first major speech to global leaders since returning to the White House.

“Come make your product in America and we will give you among the lowest taxes of any nation on earth,” Mr Trump said on Thursday, speaking via video link to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

“But if you don’t make your product in America, which is your prerogative, then very simply you will have to pay a tariff,” he added.

In his speech, he added that he believed lower oil prices would help end war in Ukraine instantly.

“I’m also going to ask Saudi Arabia and OPEC to bring down the cost of oil,” referring to the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries.

“If the price came down, the Russia-Ukraine war would end immediately,” he said.
“Right now, the price is high enough that that war will continue,” he added.

In wide-ranging remarks, Mr Trump also signalled he would exert pressure to bring interest rates lower.

“I’ll demand that interest rates drop immediately,” he said, in a signal that he might pressure US Federal Reserve officials on the matter.

“Likewise, they should be dropping all over the world. Interest rates should follow us all over.”
