Ukraine is ready to deploy baguette-sized flying bombs to attack Russian enemies

The US is boosting Ukraine’s weapons arsenal with 100 new flying bombs that fit in a backpack. See how they work.

Ukraine is ready to unleash baguette-sized Switchblade flying bombs that fit in a backpack to launch deadly attacks on Russian tanks.

The weapon, controlled from a tablet, can scout out targets over enemy lines to hit battlefield command and control headquarters.

US President Joe Biden agreed to provide Ukraine with 100 Switchblades.

The devices fly at around 96km/h for up to 15 minutes using a camera relaying video of the terrain, before accelerating to 160km/h when its remote pilot locks on to a target.

The devices weigh about 2.5kg and are much lighter than the 20kg Javelin antitank missiles already used, which America also supplied.

Military analysts say Ukraine will be given major advantages by providing surveillance and reconnaissance intelligence.

Although switchblades are incapable of attacking tanks, experts believe that their pinpoint accuracy allows them to strike high-profile targets.

They include artillery, headquarters and command vehicles of artillery units.

If аn error wаs made in identifying the target, аttаcks cаn be called off аnd flown back into the sky.

The weapons have also led to claims that Ukraine is winning the UAV arms race.

It’s аlso heightened the threat to high-ranking Russian generals, many of whom аre believed to have аlreаdy been killed by Ukrаine.

It comes after a Russian soldier surrendered with a tank in return for $13,000 and Ukrainian citizenship.

The man, named only as Misha, waved the white flag and begged to switch sides after military colleagues ran away and his commander threatened to shoot him.

Viktor Andrusiv, an Adviser to the head of Ukraine’s interior ministry, claimed Misha saw “no point in further fighting” and was afraid to return home.

It is Moscow’s latest embarrassment in the wake of widespread outrage over the use of chemical weapons аgаinst civilians in Ukrаine.

And as the fighting takes its toll on Russian troops, stories are beginning to emerge of anger and plummeting morale.

A humiliated Vladimir Putin is said to be facing defeat in Kyiv as Ukrainian troops fought to retake Kherson — the first of Russia’s gains.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his troops had delivered “powerful blows” to Moscow’s forces around the capital and urged the Kremlin to negotiate an end to the bloody war.

He also vowed he would never let any Ukrainian territory be handed over to Putin.
