Footage has emerged of Thai police officers standing back as parents attack a man who allegedly groped their 12-year-old daughter.

Police step aside to let parents attack paedophile

Disturbing footage has revealed the moment Thai police let a mother and father attack a man who allegedly “fondled and groped” their 12-year-old daughter.

The man allegedly sexually touched the girl while she was shopping for snacks at a convenience store in Nonthaburi on January 26.

The 47-year-old man, Chakkaphan, was allegedly seen on CCTV, with staff at the store notifying the girl’s mother Duan and her father Ton.

Footage has now emerged of Thai police allowing the girl’s parents to confront the man before being detained.

In the footage, the man can be seen sitting on a swivel office chair as multiple police officers stand back with hands on their hips.

A man and woman both approach the alleged offender from behind, with the woman at one point smacking the back of his neck with her right hand.

Local media reported that the mum and dad arrived at the store and asked to see the CCTV before Chakkaphan ditched his groceries and attempted to run from the scene.

He was caught by a security guard at a nearby massage store.

“He was being chased by another man in a black shirt on the road. I followed him to the alley and saw him hiding in a corner beside the shop,” the security guard said.

“When I asked his name, he wouldn’t answer me. I thought he was very suspicious, so I blocked his path. Police arrived later to catch him.”

A police spokesman said the man has been refusing to answer police questions.

“A drug test found he was clean. We are trying to see if he has a previous criminal record. We are also attempting to find his relatives to give us more information,” he said.

“The suspect has been taken to the Phra Nang Klao Hospital for a physical examination before he is taken into police custody again.”

No charges have been formally entered.
